Kali Mera not from Greece anymore, unfortunately. But on a happier note, the sunshine seems to have travelled home with me to Oxford. Got to make the most of that later today.
So, for the third year running, we stayed on the island of Lesbos (yes, ha ha, very funny) for two weeks of idyllic relaxation in the gentle rays of the early summer sun. It was to be a chance for me to get some of my 'suggested reading' done in preparation for the start of term in September. Didn't quite turn out as planned. 40 degree heat and no breeze does not allow you do to anything but slob around on a sun lounger between two giant pineapples for the best part of the day. What was meant to be a constructive use of my time in a different environment, turned into a 2 week long tanning spree (a successful one, by the way) and, lets be honest, that's what it was always going to be.
So now, I'll let you see for yourself some of the lovely people I shared my fortnight with, and some of the awesome places I went. One place I can't go without mentioning, is the South American bar in Mytilene, the main town. You'll see pictures of it further down, but they do not do it justice, as it is currently impossible (though maybe in the future, when technology gets ever more advanced, it will be possible) for you to hear the music, meet the barmen, taste the cocktails and feel the general atmosphere of excitement. So look at it, and wish you were there.
